Prior to joining the University of Worcester, Jayne lived and taught in north London for 15 years before taking on advisory work for Local Authorities in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Jayne was also employed by the National Strategies to work with schools and local authorities across the West Midlands on raising standards of mathematics.
Jayne's background is in school improvement where she has worked with schools to develop effective teaching and learning practices which result in improving in standards in primary schools. Mostly these schools are in challenging circumstances.
Primarily she worked with teachers on developing and improving their teaching and learning of mathematics and with middle and senior leaders to develop and improve leadership and management in their schools.
Jayne worked with the Welsh Government (Literacy and numeracy frameworks) writing and delivering CPD to teachers about teaching and learning of numerical reasoning. She has also writing materials for numeracy across the curriculum from nursery to Year 9. These have been very well received and evaluated by schools in Wales.
Jayne particularly likes to include creative approaches which inspire and motivate learners to learn about mathematics and as she sees the world through mathematical eyes, you never quite know how your sessions might begin!
