Role Summary

As course administrator, Gemma provides professional administrative support to academic staff to ensure the efficient and effective management and delivery of the Education Studies programme run by the School of Education. The role is varied and requires a high degree of professionalism, commitment and use of initiative. Gemma is the central point of contact for staff, students and a range of external organisations and is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of all administration relating to the course as well as making significant contributions to the management of programme quality. Gemma also provides PA support to the Head of Department for Education and Inclusion.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • To provide professional administrative course support, working closely with the Course Leader to ensure efficient, effective operational delivery
  • To provide PA support to the Head of Department for Education and Inclusion
  • To act as first point of contact for the full range of internal and external contacts
  • To input key course information into SOLE
  • To arrange, prepare and minute key course related meetings
  • To take responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of course documentation
  • To provide comprehensive administrative support for the monitoring of work placements
  • To liaise with and provide advice and guidance to students about the procedures for finding a placement
  • To support departmental meetings and be in attendance to contribute to the work of the department
  • To assist the module leaders with their timetable requests and work with the timetabling reps to plan and collate all timetabling data for the course and accurately input the information into the electronic software by the deadline issued from the University’s central timetabling unit
  • To coordinate independently all operational requirements for key School events such as open days or taster evenings
  • To suggest content, check and update web pages and social media accounts relevant to the course
