Emma is full-time PhD student in the Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Worcester. 

Emma’s main research interests are substance misuse and addiction and how arts and creative methods can aid and affect a person’s recovery. She is conducting a Photovoice study with a group of individuals in recovery from addiction where participants are interviewed based on photographs they have produced, using these pictures as a catalyst for discussion. Emma is a member of the Visual Arts as Research Methods special interest group. Her PhD is funded via a studentship provided by the University of Worcester and she is supervised in this endeavour by Dr Melody Carter, Dr Paul Hazell and Dr Elaine Walket.
