I am the BSc (Hons) Midwifery Course lead for the University of Worcester and the Deputy Head of Department for Midwifery and Continuing Professional Development. I have trained as both a Nurse and a Midwife and have been a Midwife for 18 years. During my career I have worked in all clinical areas including several years as a core member on a Midwifery Led unit. In addition to my clinical role, I have been a research Midwife facilitating national and international research studies. I also have several years experience as a Practice Development Midwife. My role in practice development involved co-ordinating and facilitating the education program to all maternity staff, co-ordinating and leading guideline development and supporting newly qualified midwives in their preceptorship. I am a Faculty and committee member for the PROMPT maternity foundation and I enjoy training maternity professionals in emergency maternity skills. I am passionate about advocating for women's informed choices. I love both teaching and working clinically.
