Janina has a background in scientific research with a PhD in Medical Biophysics. Then followed several busy years as a Head of Department for Science at Manchester Adult Education College. She qualified in medicine in 1991 and worked for several years in emergency and adult medicine before specialising in Medical Education. She continued to work both clinically and in medical education, most recently in Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust as a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow and Clinical Lead for Acute Medical Simulation. She achieved her Masters in Medical Education in 2014.
Janina first taught PA's in 2008, and soon realised what a major positive impact this new profession was going to have on the NHS and joined the University of Worcester as a senior lecturer and MSc dissertation lead for the PA Masters course. She became a Principal Lecturer in Medical Education in 2017 and continues with her research, which includes the early acquisition of clinical competence, clinical reasoning, improving patient safety and use of simulation in clinical training. She also works clinically, part-time, with an Honorary Contract for Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.
