Top Photographic Exhibition Comes to Worcester During British Science Week

Worcester has once again been chosen to host The Royal Photographic Society's international touring exhibition.
The International Images for Science exhibition will be hosted at The Hive during British Science Week 2017, and features some of the world's best science photography with astonishing scientific shots with beautiful and striking images of interest to everyone.
The Hive was first chosen to host the annual Royal Photographic Society (RPS) International Print Exhibition earlier this year, when thousands of people got the chance to view the collection of distinguished images. The exhibition is the longest standing exhibition of its kind in the world, having been held almost every year since 1854.
The 2017 exhibition will open to the public at The Hive on February 8th and will be in situ until March 22nd. It coincides with British Science Week (10th March to 19th March 2017) and to celebrate there will be a series of school workshops running at The Hive where children have been invited to investigate the theme "Hidden in Plain Sight". The workshops will bring interactive opportunities for children to investigate forensics, pollen and sound waves, guided by University of Worcester staff and students.
Anne Hannaford, Director of Arts and Culture at the University, said: "We are thrilled to once again be hosting the RPS exhibition at The Hive, particularly during British Science Week. Bringing science and art together through photography sparks curiosity in young people and helps them explore and view Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects with interest and enthusiasm."
In addition to the RPS International exhibition, there will be a series of smaller exhibitions on the Lower Ground Floor at the Hive " "Fragments" by Mike Hallett and "A Nostalgia for Beauty" by David James. These thought provoking images showcase the photography of academics at the University who are also fellows of the RPS.
There will also be a public lecture on March 14th entitled "the Science of Beauty" which is free and open to the public, and between March 11th to 30th Tania March's "Time Contained" will be on display at Worcester Cathedral. This exhibition of figurative paintings explores the notion of pausing a single moment in time.
