A graduate's work has been recognised with a prestigious prize from one of Britain's most decorated screenwriters.
Natalie Nimblette has received the University of Worcester Steven Knight Award for Best Screenplay.
The award was founded by Mr Knight, creator of the Oscar-nominated screenplay Dirty Pretty Things and the recent, acclaimed BBC television series Peaky Blinders, and goes to the Screenwriting graduate who writes the most original screenplay.
"Winning the award felt fantastic and has boosted my confidence in writing immensely," said Natalie, of Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Her prize was feedback on her feature film script from Midlands-born Mr Knight, who was awarded an Honorary degree from the University of Worcester last month.
Her winning script, Black Feather, is about a girl with a pet crow who gets involved in a mystery surrounding one of her neighbours and was inspired by a nature documentary.
Natalie's script also got through to the Quarter Final stage of the American Academy Nicholl Fellowship, a prestigious international script competition attracting approximately 7,000 entries.
"I think I have always been a very visual person, which is why I initially wanted to go into film," said the 21-year-old former Archway School pupil.
"I have always liked writing but with words there's only so much you can do to get the pictures in your head onto the page, which I found frustrating.
"The amazing thing about screenwriting is that it gets made and you can see it on the screen."
Mr Knight said: "I thought Natalie's work was fantastically original and kept me gripped from page one. I'm sure she has a future in the business.
"It is important to encourage young talented writers through, bringing new ideas and perspectives to the industry, and I hope that this award will continue to inspire all students on the Screenwriting course to excellence."
Screenwriting Course Leader, Sarah Evans, added: "Natalie definitely has what it takes to be a successful writer " strong original ideas, a real passion for character and a disciplined approach to developing scripts.
"Steven's award has given a real boost to the Screenwriting students at Worcester and Natalie has set the bar very high for this year's students."
