The specialist facility is being created at the Jenny Lind building in the City Centre, and will be ready in time for the first cohort on the University's new Law degree, which begins in September.

It features benches for judges, barristers, defendants, witnesses and even members of the press, just like a working court. There is also a jury room next door to simulate the real court experience, and a number of seminar rooms.

Head of Law, Bill Davies, said: "We are really excited to see the furniture now being installed in our brand new Law Court suite, which will provide students with an excellent learning environment. The facilities are going to be perfect for mock trials and mooting and will give students a real flavour of the courtroom environment."

The new LLB Law degree at the University of Worcester is a Qualifying Law degree, accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board and covers all the foundation subjects required to pass the "Academic Stage" " the first step in qualifying as a barrister or a solicitor.

The degree has a strong employability emphasis with a combination of skills-based training within the curriculum and opportunities for work-based experience. The University has developed excellent links with local and regional firms, who have been very supportive of the School of Law.

The University is also establishing a pro bono Legal Advice Centre where LLB students will be able to give legal advice to members of the public, supervised by practising solicitors. The clinic will formally open in January and initially focus on Employment Law.

The new Law degree has already been proving popular with a large number of applications, but there are still a few places available for well-qualified applicants through Clearing.

The Clearing hotline " 01905 855111 " is now open for those collecting BTEC results and Access qualifications and will remain open as A-level results are released on Thursday, August 18th.
