A business management graduate has landed a role as a commercial analyst.
Emily Connell began working within two weeks of finishing her studies at the University of Worcester and a year on is working for private jet company Centreline Air Charter.
She believes her time at university, and particularly the provision for a year's workplace experience as part of the course, really helped give her the edge she needed to pursue her career.
The 23-year-old, originally from Brixham, Devon, but now living in Bristol, took business, English language and sociology A-levels at Churston Ferrers Grammar School.
Having been impressed by the Worcester Business School's reputation and keen on its year in work option, the former Brixham College pupil signed up for a four-year course.
This involved a third year placement in Bristol working for design, engineering and project management consultancy firm Atkins in its finance department.
Emily, who graduated in November 2015 with a 2:1, recently started work for Centreline Air Charter.
She analyses the costs that go into selling a flight and what different aspects a flight would need to be successful.
She got this job after working for First Group in the Bus Division as a financial analyst for a year.
Emily said: "Taking the job I am in now was a bit of a change for me as I had focused my placement year, and first graduate job, towards finance and accounting, however now I am experiencing what it is like to be part of a commercial team.
"I have enjoyed the change and it is good to get experience from various aspects and teams of a business."
Emily's ultimate goal is to go into project management and she believes that getting experience in different aspects of a company - financial and commercial - will put her in a good position to analyse and organize projects.
Emily, who was on the University's cheerleading squad for three years, said she enjoyed her time at University and recommended the year in work.
"It gave me knowledge for my final year which I wouldn't have learnt at university and really encouraged me to work harder to get the job I wanted," said Emily.
"I had firsthand experience of what it was like in an office environment, which gave me the step forward and confidence I needed when going into an interview and into the real world."
