On behalf of the third year Occupational and Physiotherapy student conference organisers, we would like to welcome all students, lecturers and guest speakers to the sixth annual student led conference here at the University of Worcester.  And this year we are online!

As a cohort, we have worked together to get to this final stage of our degrees: from placements to floods and a global pandemic we have become competent therapists and gained a positive outlook to motivate us through the rest of our careers – whatever they will be.  We should be proud of our resilience and determination! Learning the roles and expectations from first year to third, we have all developed a sense of pride as we transition to become the healthcare workers of the future.

We hope that this conference is an inspiring event for all and that it celebrates what we can achieve individually and together.  Good luck to everyone over the next two days!

A Welcome from the Course Leaders

Alison Blank - Occupational Therapy Course Leader

I'm really delighted to welcome you all to our 6th student conference.  I am so proud to lead this innovative, creative course, one of the hallmarks of which is our commitment to interprofessional teaching and learning: this joint occupational therapy and physiotherapy student conference is a great example.

One of our other 'unique selling points' is our focus on leadership and the opportunities that students have to work in partnership with us as academics, with practice colleagues, with service users and with each other across the two courses. Their talents and abilities are showcased here today. I'm sure it will be a stimulating and inspiring day for everyone.

Sam Targett - Physiotherapy Course Leader

It is my absolute privilege to welcome you to our 6th student conference! I cannot wait to see and hear what you have produced and am thrilled that you have the opportunity to showcase your work with each other via this innovative student conference.

You should be proud of how far you have all come, particularly during an incredibly challenging 12 months. I have no doubt your experiences and learning over the last 3 years will prove solid foundations for excellence in practice as you move towards qualification and into your first posts as newly qualified professionals.

I hope you enjoy the two days, well done everyone!
