If you’re a student at Worcester you’ll have great fun if you’re keen on sports and recreation. Our lively community takes part in a wide variety of sports activities, either as competitive team players, as supporters or just for fun. We can offer you a first class sports centre, with six-court sports hall and state-of-the-art fitness suite, international standard AstroTurf with soccer, hockey and netball programmes, tennis courts and grass pitches. Whether you are keen on sports or just want to keep fit, we have something for you.
Numerous Regional Coaching and Development Officers are based on campus under the ‘House of Sport’ umbrella, including the Regional Sport and Disability Unit. We also maintain excellent links with Sport England through their Active Sport Manager, who is based in the House of Sport on campus.
As Worcestershire’s Premiere Coaching Centre for the National Coaching Foundation, the University is able to strengthen its Governing Body Coaching Awards Programme by offering students direct access to NCF courses covering a wide variety of topical issues in sports coaching.
The Sports Performance Centre promotes sports science support from amateur to elite level and this year sees the Centre expanding into the sports injury treatment field, having formed a partnership with BUPA who have a clinic on campus. We also have a specialist Sports Performance Laboratory and two Sports Science Laboratories, all of which further enhances the facilities for sport at Worcester.
Our scholarship programme continues to expand with opportunities for cricketers, rugby and basketball players.
The Students’ Union also provides a wide range of activities catering for all interests.
