The University of Worcester routinely accepts applications from external individuals wishing to apply to undertake an Individual Fellowship hosted by the University. Below are some of the funded opportunities available to researchers. Newton Fund Advanced Fellowships

The Newton Fund is part of the UK’s official development assistance programme. The fund is £75 million each year from 2014 for five years. Through the Newton Fund, the UK will use its strength in research and innovation to promote economic development and social welfare of partner countries. By working together on research and innovation projects, the UK will build strong and sustainable relationships with partner countries. This will support the continued excellence of UK research and innovation to unlock opportunities for wider collaboration and trade. UK delivery partners include the Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering, Academy of Medical Sciences, British Council, HE International Unit, Research Councils, Met Office and Innovate UK. Advanced Fellowships are aimed at early to mid-career researchers based in Newton Fund countries to develop their research strengths through training and collaboration with a partner in the UK Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent research experience and hold a permanent or fixed-term contract in an eligible university or research institute in a partner country, which must span the duration of the project. Collaborations should focus on a single project involving the overseas-based researcher (“the Applicant”) and a UK-based researcher (“the Co-applicant”). Applicants should have not more than 15 years postdoctoral research experience. These fellowships are awarded and managed by British Academy, Royal Society, Academy of Medical Sciences, Royal Academy of Engineering.

Newton Fund International Fellowships

The University of Worcester accepts applications from external individuals wishing to apply to undertake an International Fellowships hosted by the University. The Newton Fund is part of the UK’s official development assistance programme. The fund is £75 million each year from 2014 for five years. Through the Newton Fund, the UK will use its strength in research and innovation to promote economic development and social welfare of partner countries. The long-term aim of the scheme is to build a global pool of research leaders and encourage long-term international collaboration with the UK. The Newton International Fellowships scheme is run by The British Academy and the Royal Society. The Fellowships cover the broad range of physical, natural and social sciences and the humanities. Grants of £24,000 per annum are offered to cover subsistence and up to £8,000 per annum to cover research expenses, plus a one-off relocation allowance of up to £2,000. In addition, Newton Fellows may be eligible for follow-up funding of up to £6,000 per annum for up to 10 years following the completion of the Fellowship. The Newton International Fellowships Scheme covers researchers in the following disciplines: physical sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. The scheme also covers clinical and patient orientated research, for applicants from China and India during the current round.

Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions (MSCA), named after the double Nobel Prize-winning Polish-French scientist famed for her work on radioactivity, support researchers at all stages of their careers, irrespective of nationality. Researchers working across all disciplines, from life-saving healthcare to 'blue-sky' science, are eligible for funding. This scheme will fund researchers for up to 2 years and will cover salary, living and travel costs along with extra costs to cover research expenses and training.

Fullbright Scholar Awards

The Fullbright Commission offer Scholar Awards for academics and professionals to lecture, study and/or conduct research in the UK. Scholar Awards are offered at a wide range of partner universities and it is 0possible to apply for any academic discipline.
