Staff and Contacts

The Research Funding Office provides support and guidance for research staff applying for external funding and oversees the management of existing research funding awards.

Based at Jenny Lind House in the centre of Worcester, the team consists of:

Rishi Verma - Research Support Officer (Pre-Award)

Rishi joined the University of Worcester in May 2017 and is responsible for overseeing the pre-award process at the University and the submission of bids to funders.  Rishi previously worked on The Open University's (OU) Research Excellence Framework 2014 submission and managed research bidding activity for the OU's Faculty of Science and the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Genetics at University of Oxford.  At Coventry University he managed academic resourcing within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.  Rishi is currently studying for a BA (Hons) Open at the OU.

Charlotte Wasilewski - Research Support Officer (Pre-Award) (Returning February 2018)

Charlotte has worked in research support since 2010 and has experience of supporting proposals from a wide range of disciplines. She oversees and coordinates the pre-award process at the University and specifically supports bids to the Research Councils and the European Commission. Charlotte has an MSc in Applied Linguistics from Oxford University, and previously worked as a teacher in both Denmark and the UK.   

Louise Heath - Research Support Officer (Post-Award)

Louise joined the University of Worcester in May 2016 and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the post-award process at the University. Specifically she has oversight of all the funded awards, which includes drafting and negotiating all funding agreements and related agreements and providing support and oversight throughout the life of the project. Louise also provides support on compliance. Louise is also Secretary to the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee (HASSREC).

Louise previously worked at the University of Birmingham as a Contracts Officer dealing with a wide variety of research and consultancy agreements and has a degree in law from Staffordshire University and an LLM in International Law and International Relations from the University of Lancaster.

Karen Dobson - Research and Knowledge Exchange Facilitator

Karen joined the University of Worcester in May 2017 and is responsible for supporting academic staff in finding funding for research and knowledge exchange activities.  Karen has previously worked at Birmingham Museums Trust and a number of children's charities as a fundraiser and at Business in the Community and the Co-operative Group in corporate community engagement. Karen has a degree in Law from University of Manchester.
