Level 5 Diplomas in Teaching and Learning ESOL and English

The two diplomas develop teachers’ knowledge of methods of teaching and learning.

Are you interested in developing your teaching skills in English or ESOL? The CPD Diplomas are part of a suite of teacher education programmes. The courses are for new or experienced teachers who wish to develop their subject skills and acquire a subject specific qualification. The Diplomas are one-year part-time programmes taught by members of the Centre for Secondary and Post-Compulsory Education.

As a teacher undertaking the programme you will develop skills, knowledge and critical understanding of learning and teaching issues in the post-compulsory sector. You will apply these qualities to your own professional practice and demonstrate effective learning and teaching in your own subject specialism.

CPD diplomas represent some of the most up-to-date teaching qualifications available. The content has been informed by key learning theory and recent research findings. Principles of inclusion and collaborative learning will underpin your learning.

Employability

The nature of teaching and learning in the lifelong learning sector is changing rapidly, generating new opportunities and new roles and responsibilities for teachers. Progression through a CPD diploma programme will develop your teaching skills, personal learning and level of critical evaluation, providing you with the confidence, skills and knowledge to seek further professional and career opportunities. Teachers in the lifelong learning sector are now required to achieve QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) or ATLS (Associate Teacher Learning and Skills) status from the Institute for Learning. The CPD diplomas offered here can support the process of achieving professional status.
