Academic Pre-Sessional

This 6-week course is aimed at International students who need to improve their academic skills in preparation for a course at the University of Worcester.

This course will give you the opportunity to develop independent learning skills to take with you as you progress to further studies.

To be eligible for the course you will need English language IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. You will have the opportunity to further develop your academic English as part of the course.

The course is based around two management modules which look at individual leadership and management skills and project management. Alongside your academic modules you will have access to English Language support.You should take our Academic Pre-Sessional if you need to improve your study skills and use of academic English.

Costs

Cost of all inclusive package:
Includes all tuition fees, accommodation in self-catering flats on campus, organised social and cultural activities and airport transfer.

Accommodation includes bedding packs (sheets, duvet and pillow with covers which can be used for all your time at University of Worcester) and internet access.

Please note:
Airport transfer is by prior arrangement from Birmingham International Airport. If you are unable to come into Birmingham for any reason, you must inform the International Centre well in advance so we can make alternative arrangements.
You are responsible for your own food and other domestic expenses

If English is not your first language, you will be expected to have reached a sufficient standard on admission to the course (e.g. IELTS 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each element)

Modules

BUSM 2900 Managing and Leading Teams and Individuals
This module examines the key role of the manager in working with and leading and managing people. It will help students to develop their ability to carry out this role in individual and team contexts. The aim of this module is to develop the awareness and skills necessary for the effective leadership and management of individuals and teams. It examines motivation in the workplace and the role of both managers and leaders in enhancing motivation, particularly in relationship to the change agendas. It addresses the need for managers to attain, reflect on and evaluate key knowledge and skills in processes that ensure effective performance of diverse individuals and teams.

BUSM 2906 Managing Change Through Projects
Drawing upon the disciplines of the management of change, financial appraisal and project management, this module provides the student with an understanding of the function, practice and development of various aspects of modern strategic project management. These techniques will be applied to business scenarios, involving the critical evaluation and interpretation of data regarding the organisational position.
