Overnight Access: Peirson Building

 

We are pleased to offer study space in Peirson Building overnight.

You will be able to use the Social Zone and Silent Study Zone which provides access to:

  • PCs
  • Printing
  • Vending machines
  • Social areas
  • Group work area
  • Silent study spaces
  • Laptop power points
  • Wireless access

There will be no access to the print book or journal stock or the self issue and returns machines. However, access to thousands of ebooks, e-journals and other resources are available.

The Hive

From Monday 2nd July 2012 the University library service will be based in The Hive. Support will also be able for ICT enquiries. The Hive will be open:

Monday – Sunday: 08:30 – 22:00 apart from bank holidays.

Please be aware that we have an active library enquiries service until 7pm Monday to Thursday and 5pm on Friday (during Standard Hours), but your subject specialist may not be available in the evenings. Please call ahead to avoid a wasted journey if you have in-depth subject queries. Details available on the Subject Homepages.

Service Levels: Peirson Building

During evenings and weekend hours the following services are available.
 Please note that staff are available for security, basic printer/copier support and directional enquiries only.

The issue and return machines - use for:

  • Issuing Library books.
  • Renewing Library books.
    books can also be renewed via the Library Catalogue
  • Returning Library books.
  • Payment of Library charges.

Computers, Printers and Photocopiers

  • Assistance with password issues.
  • Assistance with basic printing / copying problems is available – please ask at the desk.
  • Reported PC software & hardware problems will be logged for the attention of technical staff the next working day.

Services NOT Available at these times*:

  • Subject Enquiries
  • User Registration
  • Inter-library request enquiries
  • Collection of equipment
  • PC application support
  • Support outside the Peirson Building (unless by prior arrangement)

* Mon - Thurs after 7pm, Fri after 5pm, Sat between 9am and Midday, Sat after 5pm, Sun all day.
