IT Services for Researchers

Access to IT Services and Electronic Resources

Full time research students and University staff will need the following sets of usernames and passwords.

  • Network username and password: this will allow you to log on to UW computers, the staff portal (to access resources and information), WRaP and Pebblepad.
  • Library PIN: to check your Library account and request and renew books.
  • Athens accounts: to access electronic resources, including full text journals.
  • Blackboard username and password: to access Programmes of Information Literacy (PILs).

Part time research students will receive a single sign on username and password which includes all the accounts listed above.

IT Support

If you need to contact ILS staff with an IT enquiry please use the Customer Portal (for full time research students and staff) or the Student Portal (for part time research students). You can also contact the IT Helpdesk by telephone (01905 857500).

Using your laptop

Internet connectivity is available through a wireless connection across the campus.

Elearning Services

Elearning services are provided by the Learning and Teaching Technology Unit within ILS. Staff within the Unit provide support in using services such as Blackboard (the University's Virtual Learning Environment) and Pebblepad (an eportfolio system).
