Electronic Submission

Electronic Submission

Although many still retain paper-based application systems, an increasing number of funding bodies are making use of electronic submission. Paper-based submission usually requires you to have your application signed by appropriate University staff before it is posted to the funding body.

For electronic submissions, the process varies depending on the system used. The main funding bodies who use electronic submission are listed below, along with links to their systems and some information about the way in which the University processes such applications.

Please note that obtaining signatures on paper applications and the processing of electronic applications can take some time, and you should be sure to allow time in your plan for these activities. We would recommend allowing at least one week for processing between the date that you complete your portion of the application and the date that you hope to send it to the funder (either by post or electronically).

The Joint Electronic Submission (Je-S) (https://je-s.rcuk.ac.uk/)       This system is used to submit applications for funding to all the UK Research Councils, with the present exception of the MRC.  Support for Je-S users can be found through the system help link , or from the guidance documents on the Je-S information site (which includes information about how Je-S works).  Click here for help creating an account. Or click here for help upgrading to a registered account.  The GRS can offer advice and assistance on using this system

Leverhulme Trust (https://online.leverhulme.ac.uk/default.aspx)
Still very new, this system is only in use for a few schemes.

Medical Research Council (https://www.eaa.mrc.ac.uk/eaa/default.asp)
With few exceptions, applications must be submitted through this  system. When you submit an application, it is processed and submitted by the GRS.

Royal Society (https://e-gap.royalsoc.ac.uk)
The vast majority of applications to the Society must be submitted electronically, using the e-Gap system. When you submit an application, it is submitted by the GRS.

Wellcome Trust (https://secure.wellcome.ac.uk/eGrants/Authentication/login.asp)
A large number of Wellcome grants can be applied for through this system, though the majority are paper-based. When you submit an application, it is routed to GRS who submit the application.
