PG Certificate in Research Methods

Any student who undertakes and passes RTP401, RTP402 and the subject specific research methods module will be eligible for a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods.  You will also be eligible for the PG Cert if you have received Accreditation for Prior Learning for ONE of these modules.  You are not eligible, however, if you have recieved Accreditation for Prior Learning for more than one module.

The PG Cert may be awarded as a:

  • Pass
  • Pass with Merit
  • Pass with Distinction

A Pass with Distinction is awarded where a student has achieved:

  • a mark of 70% or higher in all three modules or
  • a mark of 70% in two modules and of 60-69% in a third.

A Pass with Merit is awarded where a student has achieved:

  • a mark of 60-69% in all three modules or
  • a mark of 60% or higher in two modules and a mark of 50-59% in a third.

A Pass is awarded where a student has achieved:

  • a mark of 50-59% for at least two modules and above 50% for the third.

Where Accreditation for Prior Learning has been awarded the mark for this module is automatically 50%.
