The PhD by Portfolio is intended to provide an opportunity for current and former staff at the University of Worcester to submit a critical overview and portfolio of applied research outputs for the award of a PhD.

The PhD by Portfolio route can be used by staff who have a complete or almost complete set of existing outputs from previous research and are almost ready to submit.   Staff who have a smaller number of existing outputs from previous research will need to undertake further scholarly or practice-based work before making an application to this programme. In these cases, we would advise you to talk informally to your line manager /Subject Group Lead or other appropriate person within your Institute/Centre to identify the gaps in your portfolio and set targets to produce outputs over a reasonable timescale. This person may also be able to advise on issues such as focussing your work and identifying publication sources.
