Research Management
The institutional responsibility for the oversight and direction of research rests with the Vice-Chancellor.The Graduate Research School has institution wide responsibilities for research and research students.
There are three main institutional research committees:
Research and Knowledge Transfer Committee, which is concerned with matters of policy and strategy relating to research, scholarly activity, knowldege transfer innovation and enterprise across the University
Research Degrees Board, which is responsible for the scrutiny and approval of research degree programmes and for the enhancement and development of research degree procedures
Graduate Research School Steering Group, which is responsible for advising on the development and enhancement of the Graduate Research School Service.
Heads of Department are responsible for the overall leadership and direction of academic activity, including research, within their department. In all cases this is also directed to a senior member (or members) of staff in the department who acts as Departmental Research Coordinator(s). In each department, research issues are dealt with by the main departmental board, or mroe commonly, are delegated to a Departmental sub-committee for research and knowledge transfer.
