Audio and Video
Audio and Video
The LTTU is happy to support and provide advice for staff who wish to implement courses with elements of media content creation. We can offer help with one-to-one or group training for staff, or training for students if arranged as part of a course. We can help in the development of new approaches in the creation of new modules and assessment criteria, as well as advice on practical limitations which may be encountered.
Video
The LTTU is able to offer training and support in using video equipment such as camcorders, flip cams and digital stills cameras for the production of media content suitable for assessment. We aim to help guide users to produce high quality video files or even fully authored DVDs, ready to play in any device.
Equipment for students is available from the Peirson Helpdesk, and includes:
Camcorders
Tripods
Microphones
Portable Hard Drives
Stills Cameras
MP3 Recorders
Staff can also use these resources, but in addition can borrow equipment directly from the LTTU, where we are on hand to answer questions and provide support on how to correctly use equipment. For a full list of equipment available for loan at the LTTU click here.
Video editing applications are available throughout campus via Windows Movie Maker, installed on every Windows XP machine as well as the iLife suite of applications (including iMovie), available on all machines in each of our Mac Suites in PL1002 and EE1022. In addition to iLife in these rooms, we have Final Cut Studio, Adobe Premier and Logic 8 installed for the production of professional audio and video content (though training for these applications is not supported directly by the LTTU team).
Audio
Audio editing facilities are also available on site using Audacity to produce sound files in different formats for use with podcasts, multimedia projects and various supported applications. This includes the ability to record, crop and add effects to pre-recorded files for later output.
