Blackboard Development
Blackboard Development
There are many different ways to develop online learning materials, and Blackboard includes a large number of features which can be employed to enhance learning and communication. The following courses are offered at various times throughout the academic year for Blackboard, which is our main institutional VLE. Look out for the weekly news roundup emails detailing dates and times.
Courses Online Basics
This workshop will cover the basics of setting up a new module area, selecting tools, adding text to a page, adding web links and basic documents. This session is ideal for those who have never used blackboard before or who would like a refresher course on the basic elements of working online.
Adding Learning Materials
This workshop will cover the various methods for adding and displaying learning materials for your students, in addition to advice on how to structure your files using the Blackboard file management system. You will also have the opportunity to see a variety of different learning materials that can be used including podcasts, videos and interactive materials. The potential for using the University repository systems will also be demonstrated.
Quizzes and Surveys
The assessment tool in Courses Online allows you to create quizzes, surveys and self-tests which can be used for formative or summative assessment, or for course or module evaluation. In this workshop you will learn how to create a variety of different question types, set up a quiz and view the results.
Working and Communicating with Groups Online
There are a number of tools within the Courses Online environment which you can use for communication and group management with your students. This workshop will show you how to use these tools to suit your needs, as well as how to link to external communication tools such as blogs and wikis.
If your department would like a separate workshop customised to your own e-learning needs, we would be happy to arrange a tailored session, or to give a demonstration at your departmental event. Please contact Libby Symonds (e.symonds@worc.ac.uk).
If you would like to arrange an individual tutorial, please contact a member of the LTTU Team (eos@worc.ac.uk).
