Using a Personal Learning System to Support Staff CPD

Using ideas and outputs from previous JISC projects, this project aims to enhance effective, inclusive staff development. This will be achieved by supporting all staff to engage in recording, reflecting on and [re]presenting their development activity in ways that make sense to them, making use of a personal learning syste - in this case PebblePad.

This project is working to support staff in making use of PebblePad for staff appraisals as well for their continuing professional development more generally. It is also working to support those staff making use of PebblePad in a formal CPD context, such as for the PG Certs in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and Teacher in Health and Social Care.

If you are interested in using PebblePad to manage and develop your learning at work, each member of staff already has free access to a PebblePad account. Follow this link to logon using your current staff username and password and begin to explore the application. There is an institutional PebblePad FAQ which offers a broad overview of the benefits of the system and Pebble Learning Ltd have created a handy tipsheet for new users.

Further advice about the use of PebblePad is available at the University's CULT website, under the heading Tools. Though these resources are focused on the use of the technology for learning and teaching, they should also be of some benefit for any staff member looking to use PebblePad for their own learning

We are also hosting a number of training workshops and support lunches in January and beyond for PebblePad users at the University. All are welcome to attend, whether as a new or experienced user.
