The University is a complex organisation that is highly dependent on the processing of data for its activities. Data can be broadly split into two categories Personal Data and Non-Pesonal Date.

Personal Data (Data Protection Act)

The University has a clear obligation to the individual about whom it holds data to process the information in a manner that is compliant with the provisions but also the spirity of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Other requests for information: non personal data (Freedom of Information Act)

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 promotes greater openness and accountability across the public sector and gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities.
