The University of Worcesterís champion menís basketball team enjoyed a morning tea reception at the Cityís Guildhall on Wednesday.
The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Roger Berry, and Mayoress Jill Berry welcomed the team to congratulate them on their success.
The team won the BUCS Basketball Championship last month, bringing home the cup for the seventh time in nine years. This is the third Championship in succession under the coaching of the Universityís Director of Basketball Paul James, who is also head coach of England menís and BBL side, Worcester Wolves, and his assistant Alex Radu.
Councillor Roger Berry and his wife shared their experiences of being the Mayor and the Mayoress of Worcester for the last year. The team also had the chance to try the Mayorís chain of office and to see some of the historical artefacts at the Guildhall.
Paul James and his players also left a mark of their visit by signing the visitorís guest book. He said: "It was really nice to go down to the Guildhall and be received by the Mayor. This was in recognition of the University of Worcester Menís basketball team winning the British Universities & College Sport (BUCS), basketball championship for the third year in a row. This is a fantastic achievement and it was great for the team to see inside the Guildhall and hear a little bit about its history."
