The Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Andy Burnham MP, praised the University of Worcester as being forward-thinking during a visit this week.
Mr Burnham spoke to staff and students from the University’s Institute of Health and Society, including nurses, midwives and physiotherapists.
He was shown the specialist training facilities that the University has, including simulation suites and a fully-equipped ambulance for Paramedic students.
Afterwards he said: “It has been a pleasure to visit and to see the breadth of work going on here. The University is really thinking through the future health workforce and is already pioneering the new roles we will need to make a success of the NHS in the 21st Century.
“I would like it to do more; we need more nurses and midwives. I want to see the University as a real partner, building the workforce of the future.”
