The University of Worcester expects to see a record number of visitors at its Open Evening next week, as students continue to scramble for university places.
The University will be welcoming students who are interested in applying for places both in 2013 and this year. A limited number of spaces are still available through clearing to start studying next month, including opportunities to study Sport, Psychology and Business.
So far, the number of people registered for this year’s Open Evening is three times higher than previous years.
University Head of Registry Services, Kevin Pickess, said: “The deadline for new University applications is not until September 20 so there may well be people who are just deciding that they would like to go to university. Those who are already in clearing can continue to select new course choices until October 22.
“Nationally, there have been more places available in clearing this year compared to last year. Our Open Evenings will give well-motivated would-be students the chance to come and see how a degree from Worcester could open doors for them.”
The Open Evening will take place on Thursday 6 September from 5 – 7pm. On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September the University will also be holding an Open Weekend from 10 – 3pm.
Visitors will get the chance to speak to current students and lecturers about the varied courses. There will also be the opportunity to have a tour of the University’s facilities including the new library and history centre The Hive, which was recently opened by Her Majesty The Queen.
The tour will stop at the new sports centre Riverside, which gives students access to top class sporting and drama facilities, students can also catch a glimpse of the Worcester Arena, which is currently under construction and will open in early 2013. Science laboratories, computing and graphical design suites and the City Campus, located in the historic building of the former Worcester Royal Infirmary, will also be open.
