As Pro Vice Chancellor International, Heather leads the University’s international strategy including marketing and student recruitment; building sustainable overseas partnerships; raising awareness of the University of Worcester internationally; student and staff outward mobility and the international student experience. She also leads on the wider internationalisation of the University.
Heather was Director of Kingston International at Kingston University London from 2006-2014 and was Head of International Centre at Roehampton University from 2000-2006. She has thirty years’ experience in university education as a member of faculty and as a leader and senior manager.
Heather acted as a consultant for the British Council for outward mobility projects under the Prime Minister’s Initiative. She was on the Universities UK steering group for the 2013 report ‘Horizon Scanning: What will Higher Education look like in 2020?’ and the report ‘UK Guide to Enhancing the International Student Experience’ (2010). She has acted as an advisor for the 2009 Million+ report ‘Universities and International Higher Education Partnerships: Making a Difference’. She also chaired the China group of the London Universities’ International Partnership, working with London and Partners and the Mayor of London’s Office to promote London globally as an outstanding destination in which to study.
Heather received her doctorate from King’s College London and her research interests focus on the learning experiences of international students in UK higher education and on the effects of implementation of university internationalisation strategies on learning and teaching.
