Career planning
Information, advice and guidance is available at all stages of your study. Before you come to university, you can find out where our courses lead to through open events or by talking to a careers adviser. Representatives from the university may visit your school and there are a number of summer schools, taster days and other events which will help you to experience Higher Education at first hand.
Once you have started your programme of study, help is available throughout your time here. Careers advisers can help you before, during and after your studies with advice on deciding what you want to do, and getting to where you want to go. We’ll get you up to speed with what employers need and make sure you’re ready to make a great impression. Career planning sessions will be run as part of many of the courses, and employers regularly come onto campus to meet students at a range of careers events events
We aim to ensure that all students focus on what they can do so that they can make high achieving yet realistic plans for the future. A recent University of Worcester led National Teaching Fellowship project has sought to help universities across the sector in equipping disabled students with skills to recognise employability competencies. It has developed a new web based resource, 'Usemyability' (www.usemyability.org.uk) which will help students, staff and employers to consider the underlying abilities of each employability skill.
We recognise the need to support both students and new graduates through the various stages of their career development, and all University of Worcester graduates can use the resources of the Careers service for up to three years after graduation.
