Budding accountants got the chance to network with industry professionals at a special event organised by the University of Worcester.
Worcester Business School’s Accountancy Careers Fair was attended by representatives from local and national accountancy firms, together with representatives from the professional accounting bodies.
Stephanie Matthews, Senior Lecturer in Accounting, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for students to network with partners and senior managers from these firms, discussing the accounting profession, graduate positions, placements and summer internships. The students who attended the event impressed the employers and as a result have taken the first steps to securing employment either on work placement or full-time after graduation.”
Steven Jones, Business Development Director at Ballard Dale Syree Watson, said: “This was a very useful and well organised event. I found the students to be engaging and of a high calibre. I look forward to speaking to a number of them further during our pending graduate recruitment process.”
Trish Sayer, Compliance Partner at Haines Watts, added: “We were very impressed by the standard of students attending the Accountancy Careers Fair. They showed a very mature and focused approach and are a credit to the University. Worcester and Worcestershire is in a position to provide exciting opportunities for graduates and young people in general, and it is important that we retain these excellent candidates in our local business community.”
