King Charles I and Bishop John Prideaux
Between 1641 and 1644, there was correspondence between Charles I and his loyal Royalist John Prideaux, the Bishop of Worcester. Within this collection there are 26 letters which document the beginnings of the first English Civil War from a royalist perspective. Within the letters, Charles discusses his strife with Parliament, the events leading to the first battles,
the financial constraints of the war and concerns regarding the Reformation of the Church of England and the sectarians.
