Facilities
The University has excellent facilities to which all students in the Institute of Education have access. We have undergone significant refurbishment over recent years and have a ‘Modern Classroom Programme’ and wireless network which received an Innovation Through Technology Award.
All students have access to outstanding facilities such as state-of-the art Sports Centre and facilities, Library and Learning Centre, IT rooms, Drama Studio, Digital Arts Centre and Students’ Union.
For primary teacher and early childhood programmes, the Institute of Education has rooms set out as primary classrooms which model resources found in schools, including specialist rooms for different curriculum areas such as art, science, maths and English. Primary and Secondary PE students have use of high quality facilities in the Sports Science Department.
Secondary PGCE D&T students have a designated fully equipped D&T room and secondary PGCE science have access to the full fitted science labs which also are used by undergraduate science programmes.
The majority of classrooms are fitted with whiteboards and data projectors and there is a state of the art ICT room which incorporates i-desks. We also have a scheme which loans laptops to students on ITE programmes.
