Innovative Teaching

Most courses feature a practical, hands-on emphasis, which not only helps you understand key concepts, butalso provides you with the specialist skills demanded by employers. Fieldwork is central to many of our courses, and Worcester students get their hands dirty everywhere from the Worcestershire countryside to Switzerland. Innovative teaching methods mean that students can also experience ‘virtual’ fieldwork in areas far too remote to easily visit.

Excellent Facilities

The University of Worcester’s incredible growth over the last few years has allowed us to invest significantly in our facilities, including the construction of the recently opened Charles Darwin building. As well as housing the National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit (which provides the UK with its pollen forecast), the Charles Darwin building’s state-of-the-art teaching laboratories benefit students across the Institute.

You can also take advantage of our Geographical Information System (GIS), Visualisation and Mapping Suite, ecology laboratory, general laboratories, a microbiology/biology laboratory, chemistry laboratory, instrument room and wildlife resource area. Find out more on our Facilities web page.

Courses

We run a wide range of courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, Foundation and Top-Up degrees, and a number of HNDs. Many of our courses can be taken full or part-time, and our modular programme offers extra flexibility for you to tailor your course to your needs and interests. Our courses are divided into the following subject areas:

Partners

The Institute has many links with local colleges, such as Warwickshire College who specialise in Horticultural practices, Forestry Management and Animal Care. As such we offer programmes ran by the college to benefit students with their facilities and expertise.

As part of our research we link with and incorporate several centres for scientific research. These include the National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit (which is responsible for the National Pollen Forecast) and the Motion Performance and Analysis Centre. More information about our partnerships and research can be found on the links to the left of the page.
