Terms and Conditions
Always read our terms and conditions before accepting any offer.
Please note the importance of this website. Should you apply for and receive an offer of a place on any of the University of Worcester’s courses, this will be subject to your acceptance of the terms and conditions set out.
You must, therefore, read the terms and conditions before accepting any offer.
The University of Worcester and Yourself
A contract is formed between the University and yourself once you accept the offer of a place. The terms of this contract include the following and your acceptance of a place is expressly subject to them:
1. You will be required as a condition of enrolment to abide by, and to submit to the University of Worcester’s Articles of Government, Regulations and Rules, as amended from time to time by the Board of Governors or Academic Board. These include, without prejudice to the generality of that statement, the academic regulations, arrangements for hearing appeals and grievances, codes of discipline, Library and computing regulations and safety rules. Copies of all these documents are available on the University website which can be supplied on request prior to enrolment. You are encouraged to make yourself familiar with the various sections.
2. The University of Worcester will use all reasonable endeavours to deliver courses and programmes of study in accordance with the descriptions set out in the relevant prospectus. However, the prospectus is produced at the earliest possible date to provide maximum assistance to intending applicants. It is inevitable that changes will occur between the date of printing and the start of the academic year to which it relates. Some changes may be due to resource constraints, others to staff changes or to developments in the relevant subjects. In particular, as the University does not provide education to home and other EU students on a commercial basis, but is largely dependent on public funds, it must manage its resources in a way which is efficient and cost-effective. The University, therefore, reserves the right to vary the contents and delivery of courses, to discontinue, merge or combine courses and to introduce new courses. Such changes may occur either before or after admission.
3. The University of Worcester undertakes all reasonable steps to provide educational services. It does not however guarantee the provision of such services. Should industrial action or circumstances beyond the control of the University interfere with its ability to provide educational services, the University will undertake all reasonable steps to minimise the resultant disruption to those services.
4. The University of Worcester does not accept responsibility, and expressly excludes liability for damage to students’ property or intellectual property, other than through the negligence of the University, its staff or agents, or for the consequences of any modification or cancellation of courses as set out in the preceding paragraphs.
5. In the event that any term, condition or provision contained in this statement, in the prospectus or elsewhere in the University of Worcester’s Articles of Government, Regulations and Rules shall be held to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, such term, condition or provision shall, to that extent, be severed from the contract between you and the University without affecting the remaining terms and conditions which shall continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Distance Contract Regulations
The admissions policy falls under legislation that regulates ‘contracts formed at a distance’. The contract that is created when you accept an offer either through UCAS, GTTR or NMAS, or directly to the University of Worcester is binding on the University of Worcester (i.e. the University of Worcester must admit you if you satisfy all the conditions specified in the offer). You can withdraw at any time and without penalty after accepting an offer; the ‘distance contracts’ regulations simply reinforce your rights. The same regulations also require us to clarify that the services with which we will provide you, should you accept an offer from us, are as set out on these web pages that detail the content and duration of our courses of study (subject to the caveats regarding withdrawal or variation of courses).
Prevention of Fraud
The University of Worcester reserves the right at any stage to request applicants/enrolling students to provide further information relating to any aspect of their application/enrolment. If such further information is not provided within the period stipulated then the University reserves the right to refuse to consider the application/enrolment, rescind home fees status and demand payment of any fees or monies owing.
