OFSTED Rates University of Worcester ‘Outstanding’

The detailed report published by OFSTED today (September 26) marks the Management and Quality Assurance at the University as Grade 1 – which is officially ‘Outstanding’. The report contains page after page of outstanding assessments and particularly notes “the strength of the University’s partnership with those it works with including schools and the Worcestershire Local Authority.”

The inspector’s finding that “The University has become an excellent provider of very good quality trainees” is sure to have a most positive impact on local children and schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire in the years to come as is the fact that “Applications exceed the number of training places available because of the University’s very good reputation for training teachers of a high calibre.”

Chris Robertson, Head of the Institute of Education at the University of Worcester said, “I am delighted that our outstanding profile has been confirmed by Ofsted and this report. We know our innovative and high quality teacher training programmes at the University both educate and train the very best teachers who can make a huge difference to children’s learning and lives.”

Commenting on the report Professor David Green, the University’s Vice Chancellor said “Worcester has long enjoyed an outstanding reputation for excellent teacher training. This report confirms this fully. This first class report on our Primary Initial Teacher Training, containing the most positive, professional judgements of the Inspector is a credit to the University’s Institute of Education, the hundreds of local schools with whom we work, the students training to be teachers and the Worcestershire County Council. Above all it is very good news for today’s babies, toddlers and young children who will be the next to benefit from this outstanding work.”
