Early Childhood FdA

earlychildhoodfdaIf you are interested in working with children in Early Years settings then this qualification will not only add to your knowledge and understanding, but will also enable you to progress to Early Years Professional Status or a teaching qualification and wider career prospects.

This course is designed to be work-based, enabling you to work alongside and be supported by professionals in the field. It enables you to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the principles of practice, working with children and families; planning and managing of children’s learning; as well as current theories and practice in Early Years education. You will be supported in the work setting by a professional critical friend, a practice mentor and by an academic personal tutor.

This Foundation degree can be topped up to a full degree in Integrated Early Childhood Studies and then, with a further year, a PGCE which will give you Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). It is also a route to Early Years Professional Status (EYPS).

In addition, Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) can be given for those students who have evidence if appropriate academic qualifications / work-based learning.

UCAS is the central organisation through which applications are processed for entry onto full-time undergraduate courses in Higher Education in the UK.
