What We Offer

What We Offer

Promotion of research and scholarship in HE learning and teaching
We seek to help individuals investigate and research their practice and the phenomena of learning and teaching in general. We undertake research of our own and welcome opportunities to help other to become researchers of the pedagogy of HE. To support this we run a series of workshops and events and publish an on-line journal of learning and teaching.

Consultancy to institutes, teams and individuals
The ADPU team is a rich source of information in relation to a broad range of matters related to teaching and learning. Whether its course design, your own approaches to learning and teaching, evaluation, applying for funding or seeking recognition, advice and guidance from the ADPU team can help you on your way.

Brokerage
The ADPU works across the University and its partners, as such it has knowledge of the range and scope of different practices and activities across the institution.  If you have an idea you wish to discuss or want advice on an issue we probably know someone you can work with.

Platforms for sharing
Sharing knowledge, skills and innovations is an important aspect of an HE practitioner’s life. ADPU provide opportunities for HE practitioners to disseminate their learning and teaching expertise through one off events, special interest groups our annual conference and scholarship of learning and teaching group. Learning and teaching project reports are also hosted on ADPU's web site.

Special Interest Groups
The purpose of these groups is to provide a forum for like-minded individuals to discuss, exchange ideas and improve their own practice within a specific pedagogical area. Currently we host groups in problem based learning, reflective practice, engaging students in research and study skills. Professional dialogue lies at the heart of good professional development and these groups facilitate just that.

Away days
The ADPU team helps institutes and departments to develop their own bespoke events and away days to meet the specific needs of their staff. We help run sessions and organise activities. If you would like our input or help with an event please contact Ian Scott (i.scott@worc.ac.uk).

Connect four
This is a new ADPU initiative, if you can find four or more individuals who are interested in learning about or exploring an aspect of learning and teaching or academic practice we will organise an activity or event for you.
