Di is a part-time MPhil / PhD student with the Association for Dementia Studies.

Di’s research interest is in exploring empathic communication between people living with dementia and their family care partners. Di is interested in understanding synchrony within family dyads that allows connection and meaningful communication to take place.

Di is supervised by Dr Julie Barrett and Dr Ruby Swift

Following a career in international corporate law and risk management, Di moved to France and worked as a university lecturer, English teacher and holistic therapist. Di moved back to the UK in 2014 to support her parents, and her mother was eventually diagnosed with vascular dementia. Di is a volunteer for the East Sussex Life Transitions Service, which aims to empower and enable people to live well in older age. Di’s research interests also include dementia prevention through nutrition and lifestyle changes.
