I
am also a principal lecturer in History
at UCW, Chair of Staff and Educational Development Association
(SEDA) conference committee
and institutional correspondent for the Centre
for Recording Achievement.
I facilitate a great
deal of staff development both at UCW and across the HE sector.
I am course leader for the SEDA
teacher accreditation modules. My workshops at UCW cover such
issues as active learning, assessment, module and programme design,
sharing effective practice and personal development planning (PDP).
Work outside UCW tends to focus on PDP and learning and teaching
in History.
In 2001 I was awarded
a National Teaching Fellowship with funding for a three year (2001-04)
project entitled ‘Taking
Progress File Beyond the Enthusiasts’. This project
is bringing together 6 HEIs to examine factors influencing student
engagement in PDP. It builds on my work supporting the implementation
of PDP at UCW through the Student
Qualities Profile.
